Process - how we go about things
Notary 27/4 Procedure – Execution of Powers of Attorney
Notary 24/7 is a trading style of Fatchett & Co Notaries Limited.
We are a firm of notaries and are regulated by the Faculty Office (www.facultyoffice.org.uk)/
We are bound by the Notarial Practice Rules 2019. For remote notarisation, we comply with the Guidance on Remote Notarisation (“GORN”).
Remote / Online Execution of documents
We cannot notarise affidavits or statutory declarations online. We can refer you to a notary near you for an in person appointment. Please visit www.notarypublic.co.uk and submit an enquiry.
Process –Powers of Attorney
- All our meetings have security processes for your protection and our own.
- We use the Credit Safe ID Verification technology to verify those we meet.
- We need to have the document you wish to notarise prior to any meeting. Use our upload facility for this or email the document to us.
- We will check the document you wish to execute. There are various checks we will make to the document to be able to satisfy ourselves that we are able to notarise the document for you. If we are not, you will be immediately refunded .
- We use both TEAMS / ZOOM for meetings. Our staff will call you and arrange a meeting time which is convenient to you.
- At the meeting (to execute the documents), we will have two members of staff. Our meeting assistant and one of our notaries.
- We record all meetings for our records (and to provide evidence of the execution of the document).
- We will ask you to send a scan / picture of the executed document as part of the meeting process.
- We will ask you to send us the physical wet ink signature original after the meeting.
- Our notarial sign off will refer to the remote execution and our method of identifying you.
- We will apply for any required apostille.
- We will forward the apostilled document to your chosen delivery address.
Notary 24/7 Process – Documents not requiring notarisation
Documents which do not require notarisation have a different process. Such as
- Birth Certificates
- Marriage Certificates
- Death Certificates
- Certificates of No Impediment
- Naturalisation Certificates
- Gender Recognition Certificates
- Medical Reports (where the doctor is registered with the FCDO).
- ACRO Certificates
- Vet Certificates (where vet is registered with the FCDO).
- Companies House documents
If you have anything else, we can check for you. Please call us.
DBS Certificates
These certificates need to be notarised (before they can be apostilled). We would need to check them (as original) and notarised them accordingly.
Receipt of Documents / Timescales
Once we are in receipt of your original physical document (which we will ask you to send to us by recorded post) we will utilise our “Next Day” permission with the FCDO to apply for legalisation of your document.
Next Day means, the day after the day we lodge the document. We can arrange for you to deliver the document to the FCDO, but this requires either you (or a courier) going to Milton Keynes (arriving before 11am).
As an example, if we receive the document from you on Monday, it will be lodged Tuesday, ready Wednesday afternoon. Guaranteed overnight mail would then return to you Thursday / Friday. With a DHL, the courier would depend on where it was being sent. We work on Europe (3-4 days) and worldwide (7 days).
For urgent matters, you could drop off in Milton Keynes before 11am (Monday) and pick up 3pm (Tuesday). This requires either you or a courier to deliver and pick up. We can arrange this for you at an additional cost.
