Online ID verification by a UK notary is a remote process where a qualified UK notary public confirms a person’s identity via a secure video call, instead of an in-person meeting.
During the session, the notary:
- Verifies the individual’s photo ID (such as a passport)
- Confirms the person’s identity, capacity, and willingness to act
- Compares the person on the video call with the ID presented
- Records the verification in accordance with UK notarial rules
Once completed, the notary can:
- Issue a notarial certificate of ID verification, or
- Use the verification to support remote notarisation or document execution, where permitted

- We will ask you to book in a meeting to complete the remote notarisation.
- We will complete the meeting (which will be recorded).
- Where you have asked for the apostille, we will send it for legalisation using our “next day” provider license.
For example, if we received your document on a Monday, we would lodge it with the FCDO on Tuesday. The document would be ready on Wednesday (in Milton Keynes at about 2pm). It would then be mailed or couriered.
